What is the Pax Autocratica colony for?
It is the persistent State between FPS expeditions: housing, production, research, prison, and labor that turn Core Fragments and captives into a stronger regime.

The Pax Autocratica colony is the long-term State you grow between FPS expeditions: survivors become workers, workers become soldiers, and loot only matters if the base can absorb losses. This page teaches the Early Access colony loop from Multiverse / Multiverse — build order, labor, and the “ready for a run” checklist. Verified August 16, 2026 · Steam.
| Fact | Detail |
|---|---|
| Platform | Steam PC · Windows · Steam Deck Playable |
| Genre | Satirical colony sim · FPS roguelite |
| Mode | Single-player at launch · co-op planned |
| Setting | Tyris System — totalitarian State vs rival regimes |
| Core loop | Colony → Policies → Citizens → Combat → Loot |
| Colony jobs (official) | Mine · gather · haul · research · manufacture weapons / armor / food / supplies |
| EA scale note | Full EA lists far more buildings than Prologue (community comparison: Prologue 15 → EA 65) — do not mix counts |

Every strong Pax Autocratica colony session is the same sandwich: base work creates the squad and stockpile, the expedition spends them, and loot only sticks if the colony has beds, food, research, and cells waiting when you return.

| Phase | Colony job | What “done” looks like |
|---|---|---|
| Stand up | Place foundations, housing, and early production | Citizens sleep and eat without constant manual rescue |
| Unlock | Research buildings before you try to place them | Barracks / prison / food hall / Tactical Bureau appear in construction |
| Automate | Assign mine, gather, haul, research, manufacture | Stockpiles refill while you walk the base |
| Prep | Weapons, armor, supplies, capture capacity | Ship loadout ready and prison cells free |
| Expedition | Lead the FPS run; capture when you can | Cores and captives return with the squad |
| Integrate | Enlist at Victory Square; imprison or indoctrinate | New manpower feeds the next expansion |
Roguelite cores and weapon swaps feel urgent, but the State dies on logistics. If haulers stop, food halls empty, or research stalls, the next run starts with fewer troops and worse gear — even when you “won” the last sector push.
Early Access does not hand you a finished capital. You grow from a frontier base: research unlocks construction options, construction needs resources, and resources need assigned labor. Exact material costs stay TBA until confirmed in your build — use roles, not invented prices.

| Priority | Structure role | Why it unlocks the loop |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Research capacity | Many buildings stay hidden until researched — empty construction lists are usually a research gate |
| 2 | Barracks / housing | Sleep + enlistment pipeline; adults head to Victory Square for formal enlistment |
| 3 | Prison | Captives auto-imprison when cells exist; otherwise they sit in leader custody |
| 4 | Food hall / food production | Hunger spikes drive unrest faster than missing a cosmetic hub |
| 5 | Storage + haul routes | Production without hauling is a pile on the floor |
| 6 | Tactical Bureau / military prep | Opens deeper expedition tools once the State can feed itself |
| TBA | Exact costs / build times | Mark unverified numbers TBA — do not copy Prologue prices into full EA |
Community walkthroughs repeatedly hit “no buildings available for construction” because the barracks or prison still needs research. If the list is empty, finish the building research (you can research personally) before strip-mining the whole map.
Captures from expeditions imprison automatically when cells are free. One starter cell is common; upgrades can expand capacity (community-observed path toward multiple cells). Build the prison near barracks so enlistment, custody, and housing stay one short walk.
With the skeleton up, labor assignment is what turns buildings into a living State.
Official copy is blunt about colony work: citizens mine, gather, haul, research, and manufacture weapons, armor, food, and supplies. Your job is not to click every rock — it is to keep the right bodies on the right jobs while auto-assignment fills gaps.
| Job family | Feeds | Failure symptom |
|---|---|---|
| Mine / gather | Raw inputs for manufacture and building | Construction stalls; craft queues starve |
| Haul | Moves produced goods to storage / stations | Piles sit at workshops while halls show empty |
| Research | Unlocks buildings and systems | Construction menu stays blank for key hubs |
| Manufacture (weapons / armor) | Expedition readiness | Runs start under-geared despite a “busy” base |
| Manufacture (food / supplies) | Citizen stability + run consumables | Hunger and supply warnings before you launch |
The game can assign suitable available soldiers to open tasks. Use that to avoid micromanaging every haul, then manually pin critical research or food work when the colony is about to launch a run. If everyone is “busy” but food halls stay empty, you over-weighted mining.
Wandering merchants can patch a missing blueprint or resource spike, but they are not a substitute for a working haul loop. Buy what unblocks research or weapons — do not outsource your entire food chain to RNG visits.
Once labor is moving, the next question is whether the colony can survive a failed expedition.
Do not measure readiness by “I researched one cool gun.” Measure it by whether the State still functions if half the squad dies and you return with captives and Core Fragments.
| Situation | Launch? | Action |
|---|---|---|
| Beds + food buffer + at least one free prison cell | Yes | Run a short expedition; prioritize capture if cells are ready |
| Weapons researched but food hall empty | No | Reassign manufacture/gather to food before launch |
| Captives already stuck in leader custody | Risky | Build/upgrade prison cells first — capture |
| Research queue idle and construction list empty | No | Staff research, unlock the next hub, then leave |
| Only Prologue muscle-memory build order | Caution | Re-check EA unlocks — Prologue counts are a different app |
| Policies causing fear spikes with no food | No | Stabilize citizens / policies first |
Core Fragments power Weapon and Combination Cores on later pages — they do not replace beds. Captives become manpower only after imprisonment and conversion routes exist. Plan the return path before you fire the first shot.

Most Early Access failures are colony failures wearing an expedition costume. Use this mid-page decision block when the base feels busy but the State is rotting.
| Pressure | Early tell | Colony fix |
|---|---|---|
| Hunger | Food hall replenish alerts; rising hunger | Reassign gather/manufacture to food; delay the next run |
| Housing gap | Adults waiting; enlistment blocked | Expand barracks/housing; process Victory Square enlistment |
| Custody backlog | Captives stuck on the leader | Add prison cells; stop capturing until cells free |
| Research stall | Empty construction options | Assign researchers; personally finish critical unlocks |
| Haul collapse | Goods piled at producers | Pull bodies off vanity jobs onto haul |
| Unrest from decrees | Fear up, loyalty down, rebellion risk | Ease punishment / boost food before more propaganda — see policies |
| Over-expansion | Many pads, no buffers | Pause foundations; finish one production cluster |
Free Pax Autocratica: Prologue (App 4107120) is a smaller taste. Do not import its building counts, policy counts, or unlock order as if they were full EA (1067360) facts.
If a named structure is still fuzzy, the buildings page is the next deep dive.
It is the persistent State between FPS expeditions: housing, production, research, prison, and labor that turn Core Fragments and captives into a stronger regime.
Usually the building still needs research, or you lack required resources. Check research first when construction mode shows no options.
You can capture without cells, but captives sit in leader custody until prison capacity exists. Build cells before you lean on capture as a growth plan.
Community and update notes point to Victory Square for formal enlistment after adulthood — process that queue so housing graduates into usable manpower.
This page covers the operating loop; the buildings page groups structure roles (barracks, prison, food hall, research, Tactical Bureau) and placement habits.
No. Treat Prologue as a separate free app with smaller content counts. Verify unlocks in your EA build.
